PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

This program will prepare students for an entry-level position as a Phlebotomy Technician in the healthcare setting. The competencies of this program follow the duties and responsibilities of a Phlebotomy Technician as outlined in the program. Topics of study include anatomy and physiology, phlebotomy practice and health care setting, infection control, legal and regulatory issues, and the venipuncture procedure.The students will also demonstrate their skills in the skills lab clinical setting. The students will be encouraged to attain their national certification through NHA and also to pursue their license with the Michigan State Board of Medical Examiners after certification is completed. Upon completion of all program requirements, the students will receive a certificate of completion.
